An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.
The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
